Should I put my baby on a daily routine?

Category: Happy home life

When our babies are newborns they need lots of love and nurture, and feeding on demand is the best thing for them, but as your baby grows older you might wonder, should I put my baby on a daily routine?

The research is pretty clear; research has shown that when babies are put on a routine they thrive, sleep better and are happier. They feel secure in their world when they know what’s coming next. What’s more children with a regular bedtime routine fall asleep faster and sleep better than those who don’t.

Many mums and carers feel more secure and settled too when they know how their day is likely to run which can lead to emotional stability and a happier family life.

It’s worth saying that when I talk about routines I’m not talking about clock watching down to the minute, or cutting short an outing to get home for a cot nap, life needs to be more flexible than that! Rather a guideline for the day that works for your baby and leaves you and your baby knowing what to expect.
